Cars will no longer be imported without paid pre-orders
Russian dealers have decided to reconsider their strategy regarding the import of cars through parallel imports, but there are no plans to completely abandon the sale of such cars.
As Autonews.ru reports, information about the complete closure of directions for the supply of parallel imported cars from the Avtodom and AvtoSpetsTsentr dealership centers turned out to be inaccurate.
The press service of both companies, members of the same holding, told Autonews.ru that their decision does not concern the complete cessation of supplies of cars through parallel imports, but rather the “clearing of warehouses.” Dealers promise to continue delivering cars based on pre-orders, and without pre-paid orders, cars will no longer be imported under this scheme.
Dealers commented on the complete refusal of parallel import of cars
This step was motivated by rising prices and, as a result, a decrease in demand for such cars, as market participants explained.
“We still believe that premium European brands do not have alternative offers, and Avtodom and AutoSpetsTsentr continue to supply cars in this segment. However, we want to awaken customers’ interest in them, so we decided to empty warehouses imported through parallel imports,” Oleg Kuznetsov, director of marketing and digital transformation of the group of companies, explained the change in the holding’s policy.
