Dell unveils updated Latitude 5000 series laptops with Tiger Lake processors and redesigned design

Dell has unveiled the updated mid-range laptops in the Latitude series aimed at the business segment. We are talking about models Latitude 5320, Latitude 5420 and Latitude 5520, which will go on sale soon.

In total, the manufacturer has introduced four new models, as the 13.3-inch Latitude 5320 will be available in the standard version, as well as in the form of a 2-in-1 device. As for the other two models, the Latitude 5420 has a 14-inch display, while the Latitude 5520 received a 15.6-inch panel from the developers.

Compared to the previous generation models, this year’s new items are thinner and lighter, and the display bezels have been reduced. The most significant weight savings were achieved in the Latitude 5520, which weighs only 1.59 kg (despite the 42 Wh battery), while its predecessor weighed 1.87 kg.

This was achieved by eliminating the use of some components. For example, the younger model no longer has an Ethernet connector, and the maximum capacity of the batteries used has been reduced from 68 Wh in the previous generation to 63 Wh in new laptops. Dell also no longer uses the proprietary charging connector in all the new products presented; it has been replaced by the USB Type-C interface.

It is worth noting that Dell has completely abandoned its TrackPoint counterpart. The power button is now located on the keyboard and has a fingerprint scanner integrated into it.

The changes affected not only the appearance, but the hardware component also deserves attention. First of all, it should be said that the developers have abandoned the use of standard hard drives. Instead, M.2 solid-state drives are used. The Latitude 5320 and 2-in-1 comes with 32GB of LPDDR4 RAM soldered. Older models support the installation of up to 64 GB of RAM and have two slots for placing it.

All new Dell Latitude 5000 Series are powered by 11th Gen Intel (Tiger Lake) processors, complemented by integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics. Nvidia GeForce MX450 discrete graphics are only offered on the Latitude 5520.

It is expected that the presented laptop models Dell Latitude 5000 series will be available for purchase on January 12. The cost of new products has not yet been disclosed.
