The Chinese telecommunications company said it will open its first store of its own in the UK – at London’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford in October 2020. After that, the company plans to open a store with a customer service point in Manchester in February 2021. Another Huawei retail outlet in the UK will open in early 2021, although its location has yet to be specified.

In a press release, Huawei says its new stores, which the company will invest in $ 12.5 million, will create more than 100 new jobs in London and Manchester.

On July 14, the UK government announced a ban on the purchase of Huawei equipment for 5G networks from early next year to telecommunications companies. Also, British firms announced the need to remove all Huawei 5G equipment from the country’s networks by 2027. The British government does not hide that this decision was made under pressure from Washington, which had previously announced a ban on Huawei’s supplies of components made using American technologies.
