Digital Foundry: Yakuza: Like a Dragon for Xbox Series X delivers stable 60fps in 1080p only

Digital Foundry: Yakuza: Like a Dragon for Xbox Series X delivers stable 60fps in 1080p only

Digital Foundry specialist Thomas Morgan published a technical analysis of the Xbox Series X version of Yakuza: Like a Dragon on the Eurogamer website and the YouTube channel of the publication.

As it became known from recent previews , the game offers three modes on Xbox Series X: resolution (4K @ 30fps), performance (1080p @ 60fps) and standard (1440p @ 60fps).

According to Morgan, all three options differ only in the declared characteristics: the graphics are the same everywhere, and none of the modes imply additional visual effects.

During his acquaintance with Yakuza: Like a Dragon, the standard mode became the preferred mode for Morgan: most often, the game keeps the promised 60 frames / s, only occasionally demonstrating subsidence of up to 40-50 frames / s.

It’s quite good with 1080p performance at 60fps, but without any stuttering. At the same time, according to Morgan, 1080p is not what you want to see in the game on the next-generation console.

One thing the Xbox Series X has to offer is the download speed – they are “almost instant” in Yakuza: Like a Dragon. However, most of the game’s world is already seamless.

Morgan also noted that he was dealing with a pre-release build of Yakuza: Like a Dragon (access was only one chapter), and by the November premiere, the situation may still change for the better.

As a reminder, Yakuza: Like a Dragon will offer a free version for next-gen consoles to buyers of the game on PS4 and Xbox One. Save transfer will also be available on Microsoft consoles.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon goes on sale November 10 for PC (Steam, Windows 10), PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S, and will only reach PlayStation 5 by March 2, 2021.
