Digital Gaming Chart: July Ghost of Tsushima Sells 1.9 Million Copies

Ghost of Tsushima was released on July 17, 2020. In just 3 days, the game sold 2.4 million copies and became the most successful in the United States in July. In addition, in the digital market in terms of sales rate is also spared other exclusives the PlayStation, including Horizon the Zero of Dawn – 1.9 million units in the first two months.

But the merits of the samurai action movie Sucker Punch Productions did not end there. As reported by SuperData Research, in July, there was no more digitally sold console game than Ghost of Tsushima. Thanks to this, the project bypassed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, FIFA 20, and NBA 2K20 last month.

In its debut month, Paper Mario: The Origami King sold 555,000 copies – far fewer than many Nintendo games, but more than Fire Emblem: Three Houses. The project took the eighth line of the rating. Pokemon Sword and Shield dropped from third place in June to tenth in July, while The Last of Us Part II dropped from first to seventh.

In the PC section, the shooter Valorant climbed one position to fifth. Fortnite dropped to the tenth place at the same time. Pokemon Go topped the rating of mobile games – in July, the project’s income grew strongly and was only 0.4% less than in August 2016. It is noteworthy that the number of Pokemon Go users is only 15% of what it was in August 2016, which means that, on average, players spend much more on the project than in the first two months after the release.
