The rating of the hundred most successful projects was made not by the number of copies sold, but by the volume of proceeds from the sale of the game itself and add-ons to it, as well as microtransactions.

As usual, Valve does not provide figures but divides the top 100 participants into four categories: platinum (1st to 12th in sales), gold (13 to 24), and silver (25 to 40) and “bronze” (41-100th place).

Only three 2020 releases – DOOM Eternal, Cyberpunk 2077, and Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout – made it to the top echelon, while the backbone of the top dozen were games of yesteryear.

In addition to the rating covering all releases, Valve also compiled top-selling lists of new products (including every month) in 2020, VR projects and early access alumni.

The list of the most popular includes projects with the maximum number of concurrent users. More than 200 thousand active players from the 2020 releases were attracted only by Cyberpunk 2077 ( over 1 million ) and Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord.

Valve also highlighted the most popular (by the number of daily users) games with support for gamepads. Platinum spots from 2020 releases went to Cyberpunk 2077, Hades, Persona 4 Golden, FIFA 21, Fall Guys and Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot.

Finally, Valve wished its users a good New Year’s holidays and offered to familiarize themselves with the selections of past years: for 2016, for 2017, for 2018 and for 2019.

As a reminder, the Steam Winter Sale will end on January 5, 2021, at 21:00 Moscow time. Two days before the end of the promotion, the 2020 Steam Awards will be announced.
