For commercial purposes
Drones will be able to “water the cabbage” without human intervention. FAA issues first fully automated flight authorization
In particular, according to sources, the FAA recently approved for the first time fully automatic drone flights for commercial purposes. That is, no pilots or even just observers are required to control drones.
The permit was issued to a small Massachusetts company, American Robotics. Simultaneously, drones can fly in fully automatic mode only in some rural areas at an altitude not higher than 121 meters. Another condition is that each time the pilot, who may not be in the same area as the drone, must conduct pre-flight training.
American Robotics drones are 9 kg machines. They are based on the Scout System technology, which also uses acoustic sensors to detect obstacles.
