Duration, Ports Explained & PC vs PS5 Comparison: Oddworld Creator Shared New Soulstorm Details

Co-founder of Oddworld Inhabitants and creator of the Oddworld series, Lorne Lanning, in an interview with Wccftech, shared new details of the action-adventure platformer Oddworld: Soulstorm.

Soulstrom

Oddworld: Soulstorm was announced back in March 2016 and has been postponed more than once since then. There are several reasons for the protracted development, Lanning says.

Firstly, “until recently,” the studio paid for the production of Oddworld: Soulstorm entirely independently (later Sony and Epic Games got involved), and, secondly, initially, the team did not think to release the game on the next generation of consoles.

As for the technical details, according to Lanning, the PS5 edition of Oddworld: Soulstorm will be able to work at 1440p (the interface will be displayed in 4K) and at 60fps.

“The versions of [Oddworld: Soulstorm] for PC and PS5 are about the same. The in-game difference is achieved through features built into the PS5’s DualSense controller and 3D audio. However, I suspect that if you have a good PC, the sound will be similar, ” Lanning said.

Additionally, Lanning commented on the potential duration of Oddworld: Soulstorm. The developer suggested that it would take about 20 hours for the first playthrough and “dozens” to get all the achievements.

Oddworld: Soulstorm will go on sale on April 6 this year for PC (Epic Games Store), PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. The PS5 version will be part of the April PlayStation Plus subscriber selection.
