E Ink, Wacom and Sony Unveil Two Large Electronic Notebooks

At the 4th Japan Government and Public Sector Week, E Ink, Wacom, and Linfiny (JV E Ink and Sony) unveiled two basic electronic handwriting pad versions. One model has a 10.3-inch display, and the other has a 13.3-inch display, both of which support Wacom ink. The development is designed to reduce paper turnover in all sectors and ensure the convenience of working with electronic documentation.

E Ink and Sony have been developing a new generation of electronic notebooks for about three years. Available in 10.3 “and 13.3” sizes, the new solutions featured increased image contrast and increased page-turning speed with the latest E Ink Carta 1250 e-paper, as well as improved pen speed and better user experience.

Each of the new writing pads uses Wacom’s EMR technology, which delivers improved typing accuracy with 4096 pressure sensitivity gradations and support for faster pen speeds with screen refresh times of less than 30ms.

The 10.3-inch notebook weighs 261 grams and is 5.85 mm thick. The 13.3-inch model weighs 368 grams and is only 5.7 mm thick. The built-in flash memory is 32 GB, which is enough to store 10,000 PDF files. The built-in battery will last for up to three weeks of battery life.

The new devices will go on sale in the summer of 2021. E Ink and Linfiny are actively looking for OEM partners who want to develop their own devices on this platform. The partners argue that the tactile sensations and the sensations of writing with a pen leave a true impression of writing on paper. At the same time, users get all the benefits of working with digital documents.
