EA Removes SecuROM Protection From Crysis 3 – 8 Years After Release
Electronic Arts have released an unexpected update for Crysis 3 on PC – with it; the game got rid of the SecuROM protection system. The shooter from the Crytek studio was released in February 2013, so it took 8 years from the release to digital protection removal.
Electronic Arts most likely removed SecuROM as EA Play is now available with Xbox Game Pass. Therefore, it is likely that following Crysis 3, SecuROM protection will be removed from other relatively old games. Also, this technology has long been out of date as a means of protection against piracy.
In Crysis 3, players return to battle once again as the Prophet seeking to save humanity. The action takes place in post-apocalyptic New York, covered by the Dome of Liberty, overgrown with greenery, and transforms from the stone into a real tropical jungle, teeming with vegetation, swamps, and rivers.
In our 2013 review, Alexey Apanasevich gave the game 8 points out of 10, noting the advanced graphics as advantages; a curious plot that connects all three parts; good staging; peppy gameplay, music improved multiplayer mode. There were also drawbacks: this is a short story campaign, stupid artificial intelligence, and unpleasant, albeit rare, mistakes (yes, in those days, problems in new games were not the norm yet). The then anticipated fourth part of Crysis never saw the light of day, but recently we received a dubious re-release of the first, most famous, part of the series. And soon, the release of the royal battle in this famous universe is possible.
