EarPods excluded from the set of iPhone 12 fell in price by a third
Apple yesterday unveiled its iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max smartphones – all four models are rumored to ship without EarPods and power adapter in the box. From now on, these accessories will no longer be bundled with older Apple smartphones: iPhone 11, iPhone XR, and iPhone SE.
Apple’s official website encourages customers to use existing power adapters and headphones, or buy these accessories separately. To sweeten the pill a little, Apple has slashed the price of its EarPods with a Lightning connector from $ 29 to $ 19. The new price in Russia is 1,990 rubles (for comparison – in re Store, headphones are still sold for 2,490 rubles ).
Apple’s new 20W power adapter for iPhone also sells for a lower price of $ 19 ( 1990 ₽ in Russia ) versus $ 29 ( 2990 ₽ – in re Store ) for the discontinued 18W power adapter, which was still included in iPhone 11 delivery.
Apple has explained its decision to ditch the EarPods or the power adapter in the iPhone box in an environmentally friendly way: the company calculated that the move would lower carbon emissions and reduce mining and use of rare earth. As a result, iPhone 12 models also come in a more compact box, which reduces shipping costs.
Apple added that many customers have already switched to wireless AirPods and wireless charging of smartphones, and there are more than two billion power adapters it has released worldwide: most people simply do not need these accessories. The Apple Watch Series 6 and Apple Watch SE both released last month without power adapters in the box, so it’s no surprise the iPhones have followed suit. However, all iPad models still come with power adapters.
