Not at all cheap flagships Xiaomi 13 Ultra and Vivo X90 Pro + are offered only in this finish
Well-known Chinese blog WHYLAB has shared an impressive selection of photos of what leather smartphones look like after a few months of use. Of course, we are not talking about genuine leather, but about the so-called “eco-leather” or “vegan leather” finish. In fact, the body of the smartphone is plastic, but with an additional silicone coating, stylized under the skin.
The selection clearly shows what happens to such a coating when used for some time – wear occurs rapidly and inevitably. And in addition to the 2021 or 2022 models, you can also find new items that debuted less than two months ago.
The back panel with such a coating quickly gets dirty, the coating itself begins to rub, bubble, crack and peel off – in small areas or even entirely.
Eco-leather or vegan skin: how such leather smartphones look a few months after purchase
Some manufacturers give users a choice by releasing a smartphone in several design options, and “Eco-leather” is only one of them, and in addition, simply plastic, glass or metal cases are available. But there are also unpleasant exceptions. For example, not at all cheap flagships Xiaomi 13 Ultra and Vivo X90 Pro + are offered only in this finish.
