Gigabyte has already endowed the Aorus WaterForce X series with support for future Intel Alder Lake processors in the LGA 1700 package

Gigabyte has already endowed the Aorus WaterForce X series with support for future Intel Alder Lake processors in the LGA 1700 package

It was reported last week that high-end cooler manufacturer Noctua is going to support its popular models with upcoming Intel Alder Lake processors in the LGA 1700 package. Moving to the new platform will require new mounts to allow old COs to be used with new chips. Gigabyte confirmed that some of its cooling systems would receive support for the new platform, and some have already received it.

The manufacturer has recently released a new series of liquid cooling systems (LSS) Aorus WaterForce X, including models with radiators in sizes 360, 280, and 240 mm.

If you turn to the manufacturer’s website, then in the technical characteristics section of new products, you can find that support for the LGA 1700 platform has already been announced for all, which Intel has not yet presented. Curiously, in the supported platforms, Gigabyte does not indicate the current processor socket LGA 1200. But it has the same mounts as the LGA 115x.

The LGA 1700 processors will be 7.5 mm higher than the current LGA 1200 chips. This means that those cooling systems that support LGA 2066 or LGA 2011 processor sockets should theoretically be compatible with the new LGA 1700 socket, but, of course, only if you have the right set of mounts.

Intel has promised to release 12th generation Core (Alder Lake) processors by the end of this year. The new platform will offer support for PCIe 5.0 and DDR5 memory. Also, part of the series of chipsets for motherboards with LGA 1700 will only work with DDR4 memory.
