Electric cars Nio ES6 and ES8 have covered more than 800 million km in total: more than from Jupiter to the Sun
While the “cheater” Elon Musk launches Tesla electric vehicles directly into space, Chinese motorists wind record kilometers across Mother Earth. It’s a joke, but the electric cars of the Chinese company Nio have driven over 800 million km in total in three years, which is more than the average distance from the Sun to Jupiter.
Nio yesterday released statistics on the use of electric vehicles ES6 and ES8 by Chinese drivers. The ES8 went on sale in the spring of 2017 and the ES6 went on sale on May 31, 2019. Since the beginning of sales of these cars, their owners have driven over 800 million km.
The achievement of such high performance of the company was helped by the deployment of a network of stations for automatic and quick battery replacement. Instead of a long – about one hour – “fast” charging of the batteries, Nio stations automatically replace the discharged traction battery of an electric vehicle with a fully charged one. This procedure takes from three to five minutes, which makes the charging process an extremely comfortable event for the electric car driver.
As of July 17, 2020, 58% of Nio electric car owners have driven over 10,000 km each. Last year, 47% of drivers covered over 50 km every day. Moreover, since May last year, some of the company’s car owners have driven more than 140,000 km. It’s like going around the Earth 3.5 times. According to Nio at the time of the announcement of new products, the ES8 electric car on a fully charged battery can travel up to 355 km, and ES6 – 510 km. Without automatic battery replacement stations, it would be difficult for the first to make a contribution to the recorded mileage of the company’s electric vehicles.
