Its goal is to understand the true nature of the universe

Elon Musk announced on his Twitter blog the creation of a new company called xAI. The x.ai website has also launched , stating that the goal of the project is to “understand the true nature of the universe.” The site also mentions the members of the team, which is headed by Elon Musk himself, it also includes former employees of companies working in the field of artificial intelligence: DeepMind, OpenAI, Microsoft, Tesla, and even the University of Toronto. These 12 people include, for example, Jimmy Ba, an assistant professor at the University of Toronto who studied under artificial intelligence pioneer Jeffrey Hinton, and Christian Szegedy, who worked on artificial intelligence at Google for many years.

In addition, Dan Hendrix, director of the Center for AI Safety, is advising the new company. This group considers too rapid development of artificial intelligence dangerous. In May of this year, she published an open letter in which she compared artificial intelligence to a pandemic and nuclear war, saying that AI could one day cause the extinction of humanity.

According to the project website, xAI is a separate company, but will work closely with X Corp. (replacing Twitter), Tesla, and others to make progress on their mission. It is also indicated that the startup is actively recruiting experienced engineers and researchers. The site states that the xAI team will answer questions from users during a Twitter Spaces broadcast on Friday, July 14.
