Tesla CEO Elon Musk has announced that he is heading to Germany to expedite the hiring of workers at Tesla’s Gigafactory Berlin. He announced on Twitter that he will personally interview candidates for the vacant positions.

Tesla’s approach to organizing the operation of large factories has many advantages, although problems do arise when it comes to hiring employees.

There are a limited number of skilled workers in any industry. And when you plan to hire 10,000 employees in one region, you will inevitably run into problems with staffing some positions.

Tesla and Panasonic faced similar difficulties when launching a Giga factory in Nevada. They even had to launch educational programs to train the workforce in this region, where manufacturing is not particularly developed.

It would seem that in Germany there should not be any particular difficulties in hiring workers, since this country is known for its developed automotive industry. Nevertheless, the company will need to recruit several thousand workers at the plant at once, which will not be easy to do. The Tesla plant is expected to employ almost as many workers as the people living in Grünheide, where the Gigafactory Berlin is currently under construction.

The CEO’s plane landed in Germany yesterday. It is possible that today he is already interviewing candidates for vacant positions at the plant.

Tesla plans to start production at the Gigafactory Berlin in July 2021 and needs to adhere to a tight construction schedule in order to be ready to launch the plant on schedule.
