Enthusiast turns GameBoy Color into a unique Apple TV remote
Video blogger Otto Climan has turned an ordinary portable GameBoy Color console into a remote control for Apple TV. Curiously, the enthusiast did not fit the original Apple Remote’s components into a GameBoy body but redesigned the console itself to provide the necessary functionality.
Otto Climan has created a special cartridge containing special software to interact with the device keys and its infrared emitter. This allows Apple TV to recognize commands from the console. Besides, the enthusiast replaced the GameBoy display with a brighter one and made a custom case for the device, made in the style of classic Apple Macintosh computers with the company’s rainbow logo.
The redesigned console lets you control all Apple TVs and Macs that support the Apple Remote. Otto Climan has posted a video describing the functionality of the device and the process of upgrading it on his YouTube channel.
