There is no ray tracing
The recently released game Remnant II, despite very good ratings, managed to make a splash with its inexplicable resource consumption and the fact that the developers directly stated that they initially created the game so that it would constantly work with DLSS, FSR and XeSS technologies . The TechPowerUp resource decided to check how things are in general with performance in this game and whether everything is really that bad.
As you can see, the project is really very demanding. Even in Full HD at maximum graphics quality settings, you need at least a Radeon RX 6600 or Arc A750 to get at least 30-40 fps, and the RTX 3050 simply does not provide even 30 fps, although this is now the current Nvidia video card in its segment , because the RTX 4050 has not yet been released. To get 60 fps in Full HD, you need at least an RTX 3070 Ti or RX 6800.
Even the GeForce RTX 4090 turns into a pumpkin.
At 1440p, things are expectedly worse. Neither the RTX 3060 nor even the RX 6600 XT can deliver 30 fps! Minimum RX 7600 or RTX 3060 Ti required. To get 60 fps, you will have to get an RTX 4070 Ti, RTX 3090 Ti or RX 7900 XT! That is, in fact, only pre-top and top-end solutions can already provide 60 fps in 2K.
Well, in 4K everything becomes like a circus. 60 fps is not provided by any modern video card! Even 50 fps does not provide. The monstrous RTX 4090, which is usually overpowered, only produces 45 fps here, and, interestingly, the RX 7900 XTX is not inferior to it. In addition to these two monsters, 30 fps can also be provided by the RX 7900 XT, RTX 4080, RTX 3090 Ti and, probably, the RX 6950 XT, which is simply not in the test.
In fact, based on the notorious 60 fps at maximum graphics quality settings, Remnant II is a game that cannot be run on any modern PC. Of course, it is worth remembering that one of the upscaling technologies (DLSS, FSR or XeSS) is activated in this game by default, which significantly improves performance. But without them, everything is very bad.
Moreover, we recall that there are no ray-traced effects in the game, and even Lumen technology is not used at all, but there is only Nanite. The authors of the review even say that, despite the Unreal Engine 5, the game cannot impress with the quality of the graphics, although the lighting is very much praised.
