Qualcomm is preparing new surprises
Chinese source DigitalChatStation claims that Qualcomm is developing a new single-chip system that will be manufactured by TSMC using a 7nm manufacturing process.
Faster than Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+, but slower than Snapdragon 875. Snapdragon 875 lineup will have two models
The new single-chip system will use Cortex-A77 and Cortex-A55 processor cores. It is reported that this platform will be more powerful than the Snapdragon 865+, but will not be able to match the upcoming Snapdragon 875.
As for the Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 chip, it should be manufactured using TSMC’s 5nm process. The source says the Snapdragon 875 processor is codenamed Lahaina. In addition, he claims the manufacturer is preparing two models: the SM8350 and the SM8350AB (Lahaina and Lahaina Pro).
These SoCs will have different processor core configurations. Only Lahaina Pro will receive the latest Cortex X1 core, which will provide noticeable performance gains, as well as an improved GPU.
The manufacturer is expected to present new items before the end of this year.
