It is reported that on December 9, the Tesla Model X electric car in the parking lot began to accelerate and crashed into a wall, after which it caught fire. In the cabin was a hired driver and car owner, who was in the back in the passenger seat. The driver jumped out and the passenger was blocked in the cabin. The doors could not be opened and the firefighters removed the owner through the trunk. An employee of the residential complex, next to which there is a parking lot, was also injured. The owner of the car died in the hospital.

The hired driver told the police that the car had gone out of control due to “unintentional acceleration” The Korea Automotive Testing and Research Institute has asked Tesla for documents related to the accident in order to find out the cause of the incident. If during a preliminary investigation, experts identify circumstances that indicate problems with the autopilot, battery, or in the operation of door locks, the ministry may decide to recall the vehicles in order to eliminate the defective parts.
