The first Samurai Shodown came out in 1993, and last year the fighting game series, which has gained popularity thanks to battles with an emphasis on melee weapons, returned. The previous release in the series was in 2009 for the PlayStation 2, Wii, and PlayStation Portable. The new part of SNK Corporation has been enriched with modern graphics and gameplay.

The events of Samurai Shodown unfold a year before the very first part – in 1787, during the Tenmei era. A terrifying evil hung over all of Japan. Fires, devastation, and famine are raging across the country. Shizuka Gozen, the deceased spirit of a young woman who is possessed and trapped in Yomi (the land of death in Japanese mythology), threatens to destroy Japan. Warriors from all over the country and even from abroad are called to defeat it.

There are a total of 20 base characters in Samurai Shodown, as well as 4 fighters each in two season passes, including the Warden from For Honor.
