The satellite was launched yesterday, June 27, 2023, from the Vostochny Cosmodrome using a Soyuz-2.1b launch vehicle. According to Roskosmos, all supporting systems of the satellite are operating normally and without any complaints. Today, on June 28, a low-resolution multi-zone scanning device (MSU-MR) was switched to the shooting mode. The first good quality images have already been received from it, they were handed over to the satellite developer.

MSU-MR is designed for wide-field survey of cloud cover and underlying surface (including ice cover). It allows for multi-channel surveys on a swath of up to 2800–2850 km with a spatial resolution of 1000 m.

The space complex for hydrometeorological and oceanographic support “Meteor-3M” is designed to receive space information from remote sensing of the Earth in the interests of operational meteorology, hydrology, agrometeorology, climate and environmental monitoring, monitoring natural and man-made emergencies, conducting scientific heliogeophysical research, studying the state of the atmosphere on a planetary scale.
