With the new agreement, Ford plans to adopt Mobileye’s “EyeQ” technology, which uses optical computer vision systems, to enhance its driver assistance functions, including potential collision warning and vehicle, pedestrian and cyclist detection. This technology will also be used for the future autonomous driving system.

Financial details of the collaboration were not disclosed. As part of the deal, the automaker will display the Mobileye brand name on the screens of its vehicles’ infotainment systems.

Ford and Mobileye have partnered for a long time, but this is the first time an automaker has committed to leverage Mobileye technology throughout the lifecycle of its next-generation cars and trucks. These include vehicles such as the new Ford Bronco SUV, the Mustang Mach-E all-electric crossover, and the next-generation F-150 pickup truck.

The Israeli company Mobileye, acquired by Intel for $ 15.3 billion in 2017, is considered a leader in advanced driving technology. According to the company, its customers are 13 of the 15 largest automakers in the world.
