Portals massively report that Square Enix did not provide codes
The first Forspoken reviews are due at 5:00 pm on Monday, January 23rd. But only a few reviewers received the codes.
Forspoken is Square Enix’s first major title coming to PS5 and PC in 2023. Sony provided two years of exclusivity for the game.
Reviews were supposed to arrive the day before the release, but it turned out that a number of well-known editors did not receive the codes.
- “VGC will unfortunately not be posting a review of Forspoken on Monday as Square Enix has decided not to provide us with the code. It’s extremely rare for us, so take it how you want.”
- “RPG site also hasn’t received the code yet.”
- “Windows Central is also not part of the Forspoken reviewers group.”
- “Skill Up wrote that he was neglected.”

Above are comments from reviewers working in well-known editorial offices and bloggers with significant reach and impressive communities. Given that the release date is known, the publisher’s approach seems unsettling and incomprehensible.
Looks like reviews will only be published by a handful of Square Enix-selected editors.
