By the time it takes you to read this sentence, Epic Games has already made around $ 250 thanks to Fortnite. The king of battle royale is a free to play and grinds over 3000 euros per minute, thanks to a huge user base willing to invest real money to win items or customizations.
MusicMagpie provides a tool (you can find it at the link in SOURCE) that allows you to view in the real-time simulation of the proceeds linked to the sale of copies, subscriptions, microtransactions, and any in-game purchase, by crossing various data.
Within this ranking, we find Fortnite on the throne, followed by the fighting game Dungeon Fighter Online (which has a particular following in Asia) with about 2,800 euros per minute: more than a giant like League of Legends, which apparently must be satisfied with the third square (2,600 euros per minute). Interestingly, these are three free-to-play titles: this could be more of a clue to what lies ahead in the future of the gaming industry. And let’s not forget that Epic Games has made a best-seller like GTA V available via its Store available for free download (albeit for a limited period of time), and recently also Civilization VI.
