Future Apple Watch will be able to track blood sugar levels

Rumors about the ability to track blood sugar levels in Apple Watch have been circulating for quite some time. The Telegraph and Forbes report that British medical company Rockley Photonics has confirmed that Apple has been a major customer for several years. Apple has worked with Rockley on blood glucose, blood pressure, and even alcohol sensors.

As a result, one of these features should appear in the next generation of the Apple Watch. Of course, there is no guarantee that this collaboration will bear any fruit in the form of sensors for non-invasive (optical) blood glucose analysis. Nevertheless, Apple has long positioned its smartwatches as a gadget for sports and health, so expanding functionality would be quite logical.

In addition, there are practically no such devices for non-invasive analysis of sugar levels on the mass market, and the introduction of such a function in the Apple Watch would certainly make life easier for people with diabetes. It would also increase the popularity of the Apple device.

When it comes to tracking blood pressure and alcohol, they can be helpful too. Speaking about blood pressure, it is worth noting that such a function is present in Samsung smartwatches, and it works through a heart rate sensor. And if Apple Watch can track blood alcohol levels, timely notifications from smartwatches can stop its owner from an extra glass of booze in time.
