Galaxy Note20 unveiled – Samsung’s more affordable flagship without 5G and 108MP camera

Compared to the powerful flagship Galaxy Note20 Ultra presented today, the base model Galaxy Note20 includes a number of small simplifications. However, all the key opportunities are there. This option does not have a 5G version, but in our area, it will not be relevant for a long time.

First of all, the Galaxy Note20 has a more modest 6.7-inch Super AMOLED Plus screen with FHD + resolution and an aspect ratio of 20: 9. It is also bent to the edges but has thicker bezels, an enlarged slot for a single 10-megapixel front camera, and more rounded corners. Also, the display does not support 120Hz, like the Ultra model – the Note20’s response time is not reduced so much: to 26ms versus 42ms for the Note10. Also, the screen cannot boast of the increased brightness, like the Ultra.

Due to the thicker bezels and other nuances, the Note20 looks slightly rougher than the Ultra model. Interestingly, the dimensions and weight of the Note20 hardly differ from the Note20 Ultra, and the thickness is even slightly larger: 8.3 mm versus 8.1 mm. However, all Note20 color options can offer a matte, textured, smoky surface finish.

The main array of Note20 cameras has lost the huge 108-megapixel sensor and optical 5x zoom, which are in the Note20 Ultra in favor of slightly more modest modules, but all the advanced photographic and video capabilities are preserved up to 8K video recording. Unfortunately, in the base model, the manufacturer got rid of the fast laser autofocus.

While the Galaxy Note 20 lacks important features like a high refresh rate screen, microSD card support, a periscope-like telephoto lens, and a 108MP camera, that doesn’t mean the device will be affordable. In the US, it will sell for $ 999.99 for the 8GB / 128GB model. In Russia, the Galaxy Note20 will be sold in graphite, mint, and bronze colors at a recommended price of 79,990 rubles for the 8/256 GB version.
