The demand for contract manufacturing of semiconductor products remains high. The industry’s production capacity is fully utilized, leading to higher prices and higher income for producers. This is stated in the TrendForce report, which also provides a forecast of the results of the fourth quarter of 2020.
GlobalFoundries will be squeezed out of the top three contract manufacturers of semiconductor products this quarter.
Analysts expect the top 10 contract semiconductor manufacturers to surpass $ 21.7 billion in revenue this quarter, up 18% from the same period last year.
TSMC will continue to occupy the first place by a wide margin; its revenue will grow by 21% in annual terms. The second place will be retained by Samsung, which will increase revenue by 25%. But GlobalFoundries will leave the top three, as its income in annual terms will decrease by 4%, while UMC’s income will grow by 13%, which will be enough to take the third place.
