According to the resource The Verge, now Gmail allows you to open and work with Microsoft Office documents directly – as with any other text file, spreadsheet or presentation in Google Docs. There is no conversion. After editing, the document is saved in its original format and is not converted to Google Docs format. It is also reported that a new Macro Converter plugin has been released for Google Workspace. It is designed to easily transfer macros from Excel files to Google Sheets.

It is indicated that at the moment Google is improving the function of working with documents and images in a vertical and horizontal orientation, and also plans to introduce the ability to place images behind text and watermarks. True, the latter feature will not appear until next year.
