When Google first launched its Stadia cloud game service, it made it available only for some Android devices

When Google first launched its Stadia cloud game service, it made it available only for some Android devices, the Google Chrome browser and Chromecast Ultra. While Google has not yet extended support for Android TV devices, the company has enabled gameplay on dozens of additional Android smartphones and have significantly expanded the service’s functionality and game catalog.

In a small Google Assistant update implemented by some users, it is now possible to launch the purchased games directly. On Reddit, user u / delicious won noted that he was able to launch The Turing Test game by searching for “the test turing game” in the Chrome OS search box.

Google Assistant, news arrives for Stadia users

The Redditor noted that this search query opened Google Chrome and directed them to a URL in the “ggp.sandbox.google.com” domain, which appears to be the URL where Google’s internal test server is hosted. Other users have noted that it is possible to type the name of a game followed by “game” to launch a title. For example, entering “The Division 2 game” in Google Assistant will launch the game on Stadia in a new Chrome tab.

According to 9to5Google, you can also launch Stadia games directly on Android phones with the app installed. A report notes that on both Android and Chrome OS you can start a game you own by saying “play [insert game]” in Google Assistant.

Stadia games

Launching Stadia games through Google Assistant previously worked with Chromecast Ultra, but you can now launch titles on all platforms supported by both Stadia and Google Assistant. These minor integrations demonstrate an advantage of Google Stadia over Microsoft xCloud or NVIDIA GeForce NOW, provided that you own an Android device or a Chromebook.
