Google has published official clarifications regarding the new call recording feature, which has recently begun to extend to Android smartphones.
As reported on the support page, the call recording function requires the Android 9 Pie operating system or newer, the Google Phone application, a compatible device, and a “supported” region or country. Simply put, the innovation will not be supported in all regions and not on all smartphones, but an exact list of countries and models has not yet been published.
The proprietary Google Phone dialer is pre-installed as the main “dialer” for the Google Pixel line, smartphones with pure Android as part of the Android One and Xiaomi programs in several European countries.
Last week, a new version of the proprietary Google Phone dialer with the added function of recording calls “flew” to users of Nokia smartphones in India. It was expected that starting with Nokia, developers will not stop and will release a corresponding update for other smartphones, including Xiaomi. The application can also be installed independently from Google Play.
The exact timing of the mass launch of the update with the call recording function is still unknown.
