The update will soon be available for Android Go

Google has made an important update for mobile devices running on the Android operating system. The update significantly affects the speed of launching applications on smartphones and tablets. We are talking about updating the Android Runtime (ART), the application runtime environment in the Android OS.

Moreover, the receipt and speed of obtaining an update does not depend on the manufacturer, shell and model – such updates are carried out through Google Play system updates, starting with Android 12 and later OS versions.

As Google notes in a blog post, the latest ART 13 update and runtime and compiler optimizations resulted in up to 30% improvement in app launch time. How quickly applications start to launch depends on the specific device. There are also general performance improvements and faster OS startup on reboot, up to 20 seconds faster.

Google is set to release a similar update for Android Go soon, a version of the OS for low-end smartphones.
