In the coming weeks, Google plans to add a number of new and updated features to the Android software platform to make managing mobile devices even more convenient.

First, Google will add a new Go tab to Google Maps that will allow you to get directions to frequently visited places without entering an address. For example, you can pin destinations such as work or school, and the Go tab displays routes, traffic and crash information, and estimated arrival times. You can also pin your favorite public transport route to see its departure and arrival times and any delays right in the tab. The company said the Go tab will appear on Android and iOS devices “in the coming weeks.”

Second, Google will expand the number of emoji variations available on the Gboard keyboard from a few hundred unique combinations to over 14,000. The company announced that a new Emoji Kitchen, which allows users to create their own emoji variations, is already available in the beta version of Gboard and will appear on Android 6.0 and later coming soon.

Google also intends to expand its range of audiobooks in the Play Store. To this end, the company has developed software for creating audiobooks with automatic text scoring, which is currently in beta testing. In early 2021, this tool will be available to all publishers.

Next, Google will add the improved Voice Access navigation, already available in Android 11, to all devices running Android 6.0 and up. Using machine learning technology, you can add shortcuts to your Android apps to control them using your voice. The beta version of Voice Access can be downloaded from Google Play now.

And yet, the updated Nearby Share function will allow you to share applications from Google Play with people around you using your Android smartphone, even if there is no cellular signal or Wi-Fi.
