There will be a good camera and a very long period of software support
Google’s flagship smartphones Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro have been presented; the company’s next new product should be the Pixel 8a. This model will be released next year, but insider Steve Hemmerstoffer, known on Twitter under the nickname Onleaks, has already published the first high-quality renders of the device.
Externally, the Pixel 8a is very similar to the Pixel 8 – the camera unit is slightly different and the shape of the sub- flagship’s body is more rounded. But overall the design is recognizable.

The insider said that the dimensions of the model will be 152.1 x 72.6 x 8.9 mm. The device will have a 6.1-inch screen. There will also be a USB-C port and stereo speakers. There are no more technical details, but based on the experience of previously released models, it can be assumed that the Pixel 6a will receive the Pixel 8 hardware platform and the same long period of software support (7 years).
There is no word on what sensors will be used in the camera, but it will definitely be better than the Pixel 7a camera, and this model is currently ranked 33rd in the DxOMark rating – on the level of the iPhone 14 and Galaxy S23. If we sum it all up, a very interesting device emerges for fans of compact models: with a top-end (for Google) platform, a decent camera for its price category, and long-term software support.
