Priced at $1800
Google has just unveiled its first foldable smartphone, the Pixel Fold. All the renders we’ve seen lately have been correct. The device looks like the Pixel 7 Pro, only in a new form factor. Unfortunately, the presence of a very wide frame of the internal display was also confirmed. Probably the widest among all similar devices on the market. Suffice it to say that the internal front camera is placed just in the frame – it is so wide.
As expected, the heart of the novelty is the SoC Tensor G2. This means that the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro, which will be released in a few months, will be significantly more powerful than the foldable flagship. However, Samsung smartphones have the same problem.
The internal screen is characterized by a diagonal of 7.6 inches with a resolution of 2208 x 1840 pixels. The outer diagonal is 5.8 inches at a resolution of 2092 x 1080 pixels. In both cases, we are talking about OLED panels with a frame rate of 120 Hz. The inner screen is covered with ultra-thin glass. The peak brightness of the external screen reaches 1550 cd/m 2 , while that of the internal one is 1450 cd/m 2 .

The smartphone is also equipped with 12 GB of RAM and 256 or 512 GB of flash memory, which cannot be expanded. The set of cameras on the device is not the same as on the Pixel 7 Pro. The main one here is a 48-megapixel 1/2-inch optical sensor. As you can see, Google began to experiment more actively with different sensors. The Pixel Fold also received an ultra-wide-angle and a 10.8-megapixel camera. The latter provides a fivefold optical zoom. The resolution of the external front camera is 9.5 megapixels, the internal one is 8 megapixels. Google claims that the Pixel Fold has the best set of cameras of any foldable smartphone.
From the rest, USB-C 3.2, eSIM support, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC and a 4821 mAh battery with 30-watt charging can be noted. Wireless charging is also available.
The dimensions of the smartphone are 139.7 x 158.7 x 5.8 mm when unfolded. When folded, the last two parameters are 79.5 and 12.1 mm, respectively. The weight of the novelty is 283 g.
Of course, Google would not be itself if it had not endowed the novelty with various software features. For example, the smartphone supports the unique Live Translate feature to translate between two languages in real time. In this case, in the unfolded position, the text is displayed on the outer screen for one user and on the inner screen for the other.
Of course, it supports a two-window mode of operation with different applications with the ability to drag and drop files from one to another.
The Pixel Fold is available in black and light brown for $1,800.
