They will replace Ice Lake-D
Intel will update the current generation Xeon-D processors only next year. We are talking about CPU Granite Rapids-D (not to be confused with SP and AP), which will replace the current Ice Lake-D.
The Granite Rapids-D line will be available in two versions: HCC (High Core Count) and XCC (Extreme Core Count). In both cases, we are talking about the performance of LGA-4368, but the configurations will be different.
The HCC variant will have one CPU die and four RAM channels, while the XCC will have two dies and eight memory channels. The second version will have two I/O chipsets, while the HCC will have only one.
Granite Rapids Xeon-D CPUs Coming in 2024
The reason for having two I/O dies in the XCC variant is to provide more connectivity for PCIe, CXL interface, Ethernet, and more.
It is worth noting that the current Xeon-D CPUs are based on the Ice Lake architecture. And although the processors themselves were released not so long ago, the architecture debuted back in 2019.
The insider YuuKi_AnS, who shared the data, was the first to publish a photo of the Sapphire Rapids processor without a cover two years ago, and recently he was the first to reveal the characteristics of the Xeon CPU Max line.
