First you need to install Linux

The Nintendo Switch was released in 2017 and already at the start it relied on far from the most powerful platform. However, it turned out that you can install, for example, GTA V or even God of War on the Switch.

The author of the Geekerwan channel decided to squeeze the maximum out of the console. He installed on the Ubuntu console, which allows you to install Steam. But the Nvidia Tegra X1 SoC is too slow by today’s standards. Therefore, the author of the project overclocked the platform.

The Tegra X1 on the Switch runs at 1 GHz for the CPU and 768 MHz for the GPU by default. But the platform has great overclocking potential. As a result, the frequencies were increased to 2.3 GHz and 1.27 GHz, respectively. That is, the processor was overclocked by 2.3 times! The memory was also overclocked from 1600 to 2500 MHz. As a result, in benchmarks, performance more than doubled and almost reached the level of Snapdragon 865.

Unfortunately, this is still not enough to cope even with the same GTA V, which is very undemanding by modern standards. God of War also launches, but is extremely slow. But Titanfall 2, surprisingly, sometimes even shows more than 30 fps. Although often the performance drops below 20 fps, so playing this project normally still won’t work.

Unfortunately, the author did not test any less demanding games, but given the performance in the indicated ones, it can be assumed that something older and simpler Switch in this state will quite overcome, not to mention various new 2D projects.
