Halsey’s Acting Debut: A New Chapter in Her Career
Halsey, the renowned singer-songwriter, has revealed that her recent foray into acting has helped her gain a new perspective on her music career. In an interview with Paper magazine, she shared how taking on roles in the films “Americana” and “Maxxxine” allowed her to step away from the stage persona she’s cultivated as Halsey.
A Break from the Halsey Persona
Halsey, whose real name is Ashley Nicolette Frangipane, has often felt a disconnect between her personal identity and the public persona she embodies as a singer. She drew a comparison to the actors in the long-running TV series “Grey’s Anatomy,” who eventually may feel the need to move on from their iconic characters.
“It’s kind of how I felt about Halsey,” she explained. “It’s meant to be just a stage name, not necessarily a persona, and I realized at that point it has kind of grown into a persona, which I never really intended for it.”
A New Artistic Outlet
Acting provided Halsey with a much-needed escape from the pressures of her music career. She enjoyed the opportunity to immerse herself in someone else’s vision and contribute to a larger project. “It was nice showing up to someone else’s set, and my only job is to serve you in the best way that I can and you have the harder job,” she said.
A Sense of Community
Halsey also found solace in the collaborative nature of acting. After years of working as a solo artist, she appreciated the chance to be part of a team and learn from others. “Being a solo artist is a really lonely venture,” she admitted. “I don’t think people realize how lonely it is.”
A Connection to Britney Spears
In addition to discussing her acting career, Halsey also opened up about her admiration for Britney Spears. She revealed that she interpolated Spears’ iconic song “Lucky” for her own new track of the same name. Halsey expressed her deep respect for Spears and her experiences, acknowledging the parallels between their careers.
