Happiness did not last long: 505 Games recalled free copies of the Ultimate Edition from buyers of PS4 version of Control
No sooner had the owners of the extended edition of Control for PS4 rejoiced at the appearance in their libraries of the Ultimate Edition than the sudden flow of generosity from 505 Games no less unexpectedly dried up.
Recall that yesterday, individual PS4 owners, who at one time bought Control and its seasonal pass, announced the possibility to download the aforementioned Ultimate Edition for free. Apparently, the function was provided by mistake.
So, users of the ResetEra forum began to complain that after just a few hours, instead of downloading the Ultimate Edition, the PlayStation digital store began to offer to purchase the edition.
Recall that the Ultimate Edition includes Control and two-story additions. Thus, this version is identical in content to the extended edition of the project and the set of the game with a season ticket.
Regardless, only Ultimate Edition customers will receive the free Control update for next-gen consoles. This position at 505 Games was explained by the fact that “they will not be able to offer an upgrade to all Control players. “
505 Games has not yet commented on the situation. From the outside, what is happening looks at least strange: at first the publisher seemed to decide to make concessions to its users, and then changed its mind.
The Control Ultimate Edition was released on Steam on August 27, before GOG, Epic Games Store, PS4, and Xbox One reached September 10, and the PS5 and Xbox Series X version will go on sale later this year.
