HBO series based on The Last of Us to be produced until June 2022
The Directors Guild of Canada, representing the interests of more than 5,500 film professionals, revealed details of the HBO series production based on the original The Last of Us.
As it became known, the show’s pre-production began on March 15 this year and will last three and a half months – until July 2. Three days after this date, July 5, production of the adaptation is expected to start.
The shooting of The Last of Us series, according to the Guild, will take place in the Canadian city of Calgary, located in the province of Alberta in the south of the country, and will last until June 8, 2022.
The date and even the timing of the HBO show’s premiere show based on The Last of Us are not yet available. Still, judging by the information about the duration of filming, the adaptation creators will have nothing to please fans of the game before the second half of 2022.
Recall that the HBO series was based on the events of the original The Last of Us. However, the show’s creators will not literally retell the source: the viewers will have an expanded and augmented version of the plot.
Previously, the cast was approved for the main roles: the star of “The Mandalorian” Pedro Pascal will be reincarnated as the smuggler Joel, and Ellie will play by Bella Ramsey, who became famous thanks to “Game of Thrones.”
The series will be written by Craig Mazin, executive produced by Neil Druckmann, composer by Gustavo Santaolalla, and the first episode directed by Cantemir Balagov.
