HomePod mini has a temperature and humidity sensor that is not used yet
Apple may expand the range of features of the HomePod mini smart speaker in the future, adding support for measuring temperature and humidity. This can be done with a software update, Bloomberg reported. According to his data, confirmed by iFixit specialists, the HomePod mini has a hidden sensor that allows you to make such measurements.
According to sources, the company discussed the possibility of using a sensor to determine the temperature and humidity in a room so that internet-connected thermostats could regulate the temperature in different parts of the house depending on the current conditions.
There are third-party products on the market that are compatible with the Apple HomeKit smart home system that measures indoor temperature. But users would be more comfortable if HomePod mini could do this without the need for additional accessories.
It is quite obvious that this sensor is not currently used for transmitting temperature data. And if Apple has not yet confirmed its presence, it may remain unused.
According to Bloomberg, the inclusion of the sensor, performed through a software update, will significantly increase the HomePod mini’s attractiveness as a device for a smart home. But the question arises why this sensor has not yet been activated, although the HomePod mini appeared on the market in October last year?
