Horizon Zero Dawn’s PC patch finally fixes anisotropic filtering

Guerrilla Games on its website announced the release and shared the details of the next update for the PC version of its post-apocalyptic action movie in the open-world Horizon Zero Dawn.

The main innovation of patch 1.07 is that anisotropic filtering now works as expected. Guerrilla Games warned of problems with this function in the game back in early August, but the coveted patch had to wait until November.

The team managed to achieve the desired result thanks to a change in the principles of the Decima engine with shaders. This step also made the initial shader optimization process optional.

“What this means for you: At launch, the game will start optimizing the shaders in the main menu every time. This process will also take place during gameplay, but now automatically and in the background, ”the authors explained.

Despite these changes, it still makes sense to go through the shader optimization before starting your adventure in Horizon Zero Dawn: once the loading process is complete, the game will become faster.

In addition, the creators are still dealing with the instability of the game on processors with more than 16 cores, incorrect operation of graphic settings (for example, HDR), and performance problems on some video cards.

The PC version of Horizon Zero Dawn went on sale on August 7th simultaneously on Steam and the Epic Games Store. Since then, Guerrilla Games has released seven patches for the game, including 1.07.
