HTC is designing several 5G smartphones and “amazing” products

HTC Chairman Cher Wang spoke about the company’s plans to bring to market advanced products that are expected to help improve the financial position and drive demand growth in the mobile segment.

In particular, as mentioned, several smartphones with support for fifth-generation (5G) mobile communications are being designed. HTC announced its first device with 5G support – the U20 5G device – this summer. In the future, it is the fifth generation mobile communication technologies that should help HTC to increase shipments of smartphones.

In addition, new virtual reality (VR) gadgets are being prepared for release. Ms Wang noted that these products should surprise consumers. Alas, she did not go into details.

It should be noted that the Taiwanese HTC, whose smartphones were once very popular, is now in a difficult financial situation. The company’s revenue declined throughout almost all of 2020: only in November, there was a very slight increase in revenue – by 0.96% year-on-year. In general, for 11 months of 2020, sales fell by about 45% compared to the same period in 2019.
