The novelty will not enter the global market
So, the oddities with the announcement of the Huawei Mate 60 Pro smartphone have now been supplemented with information that the new product will not be released outside of China.
The Android Authority resource learned about this on the day of the announcement, but other resources only paid attention to it now.
Huawei can’t or won’t release the flagship Mate 60 Pro outside of China
Recall that the Mate 50 Pro was quite sold outside the Celestial Empire, but for some reason, Huawei decided not to release the new model on the global market. Perhaps this has something to do with the platform that the company uses in the new flagship and about which it does not say a word.
The disassembly showed that inside there is a HiSilicon SoC labeled Hi36A0, which corresponds to the Kirin 9000, but AnTuTu identifies the platform as Kirin 9000s and attributes strange characteristics to it.
About kirin 9000s
The Kirin 9000s is a mobile SoC (System on a Chip) developed by HiSilicon, a subsidiary of Huawei. It was announced in August 2023 and is based on the ARMv9 architecture. The Kirin 9000s is manufactured using a 4nm process and has a total of 12 cores: 2 A34 cores, 6 customized A78AE cores, and 4 A510 cores. The GPU is a Mali-G78AE with 750MHz. The Kirin 9000s also supports 5G connectivity.
The Kirin 9000s is said to be on par with the Snapdragon 888, which was released in 2021. However, it is still behind the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, which was released in 2022.
The Kirin 9000s is currently only available in the Huawei Mate 60 Pro, which was released in August 2023. It is not yet clear if the Kirin 9000s will be used in any other phones.
Here is a table comparing the specifications of the Kirin 9000s, Snapdragon 888, and Snapdragon 8 Gen 1:
Feature | Kirin 9000s | Snapdragon 888 | Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 |
---|---|---|---|
Process | 4nm | 5nm | 4nm |
CPU | 2 A34 cores + 6 A78AE cores + 4 A510 cores | 1x [email protected] GHz + 3x [email protected] GHz + 4x [email protected] GHz | 1x [email protected] GHz + 3x [email protected] GHz + 4x [email protected] GHz |
GPU | Mali-G78AE | Adreno 660 | Adreno 730 |
5G | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Overall, the Kirin 9000s is a powerful mobile SoC that offers good performance and features. However, it is not the most powerful SoC on the market and it is still not clear if it will be used in many phones.
