Huawei has already begun to lose ground in the global smartphone market

Counterpoint assessed the balance of power in the global smartphone arena in August. The market, apparently, has begun a redistribution, which is explained by tough US sanctions against the Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei.

According to Counterpoint estimates, in the second quarter of this year, Huawei was in the lead on a global scale with a share of about 20%. In second place was the South Korean company Samsung with approximately the same indicator, followed by Apple, Xiaomi, and OPPO with shares of 11%, 10%, and 9%, respectively.

At the end of August, the South Korean giant Samsung became the undisputed leader, showing a result of 22%. Huawei is now in the second position: the share of this company fell to 16%.

“Bronze” went to Apple – 12%. Chinese Xiaomi is still in fourth place with 11% at the end of last month.

Most likely, Huawei’s share will continue to decline for the foreseeable future. Against this backdrop, vendors such as OnePlus, OPPO, Realme, Vivo, and Xiaomi will have a chance to improve their market position.
