HarmonyOS 2.0 will run on anything from smartphones to refrigerators
Huawei today released its replacement for Android, HarmonyOS 2.0, which company officials call “a fully-featured distributed operating system for the Internet of Everything era.” And this is no coincidence: the OS can be used on absolutely all devices – from smartphones and tablets to car infotainment systems and refrigerators.
Huawei has released a replacement for Android. It is already available for Huawei Mate 30 and P40 smartphones
Today Huawei has not only released HarmonyOS 2.0 for smartphones but also provided a complete set of developer tools for it. They include, probably, absolutely everything that may be required when writing code: from the DevEco Studio 2.0 development environment itself in versions for Windows and Mac to various simulators of mobile devices, more than 40 code examples and even service of communication with technical experts of Huawei itself … All applications and documentation are already available for download on the official website.
Huawei believes that next year HarmonyOS will become widespread – it will be used in more than 100 million devices of over 40 different brands. As for the current moment and mobile devices, the OS in the form of a beta version is available for the Huawei P40, P40 Pro, Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro smartphones (catalog numbers ANA-AN00, ELS-AN00, TAS-AL00, TAS-AN00, LIO -AL00, LIO-AN00) as well as for the MatePad Pro (MRX-AL19, MRX-W09, MRX-AN19).
Registration for the HarmonyOS 2.0 Open Beta on these devices began today and will run until the end of January. This means that the final version for the aforementioned tablets and smartphones will not be released until spring. But the Huawei P50, which debuts in March-April, may well become the company’s first smartphone with HarmonyOS 2.0 pre-installed.
