There should be no folds in Huawei Mate X2

Samsung and Huawei have already released several models of smartphones with foldable screens, which have one well-noticeable drawback – a fold on the screen at the bend. It is clearly visible even when the smartphone screen is completely unfolded.

Huawei has solved the problem of folds on the flexible screen of the smartphone

Chinese giant Huawei has long been working to address the issue, sources say. The new patent describes technology that will allow the company to remove creases from foldable smartphone screens. The patent vaguely describes three components: a first foldable object, a second foldable object, and a mechanism that connects them together.

It is also stated that by optimizing the connection method for each component, the company can prevent the screen from stretching or shrinking during the folding process. The document states that this will effectively eliminate the wrinkle problem.

This solution is expected to be implemented in the company’s upcoming foldable smartphone, due out under the name Huawei Mate X2. The smartphone has already passed the network certification process and therefore should be launched soon.

Other companies including Oppo and Xiaomi are expected to release their own foldable smartphones this year as well.
