Market research agency TechInsights has published a report on the analysis of the smartphone market in China for the third quarter of 2023. Data shows that smartphone shipments in China fell 5% year-on-year in the quarter.

The agency analyzed that the continued decline in supplies was due to factors including weak consumer demand and an uncertain economic outlook. However, the rate of decline stabilized during the quarter, indicating that the market is bottoming out. The Chinese market is expected to begin its recovery path in the coming quarters.

Huawei has surpassed all competitors in terms of growth in China

The top five manufacturers by market share are Honor, OPPO (including OnePlus), Vivo, Apple and Xiaomi. Key company indicators:

Honor: 11.2 million units shipped, representing 17.6% market share and down 7.4% year-on-year;

OPPO: 10.9 million units (17.1%). 10.7% less compared to the same period last year;

Vivo: 10.7 million units (16.8%). 25.2% less compared to the same period last year;

Apple: 9.7 million units (15.2%). 5.8% less than last year;

Xiaomi: 9.1 million units (14.2%). 0.6% more than last year.

Deliveries of the remaining companies amounted to 12.2 million units, they occupied 19.1% of the market share, which is 35% more than a year earlier. Huawei’s shipments in the quarter rose 50% year-on-year, giving the company a 13% market share.
