Unlike Mate 50, Mate 60 is focused on using a different constellation of satellites
The flagship smartphone Huawei Mate 50 introduced last year received support for satellite communications: if necessary (in an emergency), users can send short text messages through the Beidou national satellite constellation. In the new generation of the flagship, Huawei will make the function more advanced – users will be able to make voice calls via satellite.
Huawei Mate 60 will turn into a full-fledged satellite phone
For this, another constellation will be used – Tiantong (this is the first satellite mobile communication system in China). Calls via satellite can be made from anywhere: even from the forest, even from the ocean, even from the desert. Moreover, it is reported about the possibility of using a satellite for data transmission, but there will clearly be limitations. At the moment, the Tiantong constellation has three orbiters.
