Huawei may release a smartphone with a double-sided screen
Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei, struggling with tough US sanctions, is pondering a new smartphone with an extraordinary design.
Information about the device, as reported by the resource LetsGoDigital, was published on the website of China’s National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA). Patent illustrations provide insight into the design of the device.
Huawei is designing a smartphone with a double-sided screen. The display will completely cover the front part, go to the side edge, and cover about two-thirds of the back panel of the case.
A triple camera with vertically aligned optical modules will be located in the left area of the back. A front camera is not needed for such a device, since the owners will be able to shoot self-portraits on the main camera using the back of the screen as a viewfinder.
About when a Huawei smartphone with the described design may appear on the commercial market has not yet been reported.
Note that earlier a device with a similar design was presented by another Chinese developer – Xiaomi. The device, equipped with a wraparound display, was named Mi Mix Alpha.
